Laguna Key Family Portraits - Gulf Shores Alabama

This family session took place at the picturesque Laguna Key subdivision located at the West end of Gulf Shores, Alabama. The returning client expressed a desire for something a little different from the typical Gulf side beach location, so they decided to conduct the session on the tranquil shores of Little Lagoon. This choice turned out to be a beautifully scenic setting that perfectly complemented the family’s energy. While I typically use my studio lights during family sessions to ensure optimal lighting, I recognized that this family had very young children who might not respond well to such setups. Consequently, I have found that concentrating on capturing candid moments and creating quick, spontaneous setups works better for kids of this age. The session took place during a bright evening, and the parents played an invaluable role by helping to create gentle shadows on their children's faces, which was especially important given the sensitivity to the bright sun. Additionally, I employed creative backlighting techniques to alleviate any potential eye strain, which also beautifully highlighted and created a soft, warm glow around the subjects, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the photographs.
