Sunset Family Portraits in Perdido Key, Florida

These are true examples of a beautiful sunset family session in the picturesque setting of Perdido Key. My “sunset sessions” typically begin about an hour before the sun dips below the horizon, allowing us to capture the soft and flattering light that characterizes this magical time of day. If we start any earlier, the bright sand can act like a large reflector, causing eye irritation and creating harsh shadows that can be unflattering in photographs. During the Spring and Summer months, it's important to note that the sun sets over the land rather than directly over the water. On this particular evening, we encountered a very bright sunset, so we decided to start a little later while taking advantage of some shade. Once the light became more gentle and less harsh, we moved around the beach to find those perfect spots. We were fortunate to capture a few stunning moments with the sun setting beautifully over the dunes, so we took full advantage of this spectacular backdrop. I set up my lights carefully to ensure that the background wouldn't be blown out, allowing us to create a series of lovely portraits before the sun finally sank into the horizon.
