New Year Family Session in Fort Morgan

This family session in Fort Morgan was originally scheduled before the New Year, but the day proved too windy and cold, so we postponed to the day after New Year’s Day. It remained a bit breezy, though not as frigid, and the sky was overcast. I used several techniques, such as having clients face into the wind and then moving around them to find more flattering angles for those with longer hair. The light was somewhat flat for natural light portraits, which can reduce contrast but also helps prevent eye strain for the subjects. I relied on natural light for some soft, gentle portraits and introduced flash to create a few more dramatic images. As we approached sunset the sun began to peek through the clouds, and we were fortunate to capture richer, more vibrant colors in the background.
