Portraits among Fort Morgan Dunes

Having family beach sessions can be wonderful, especially when we position them around the dunes. The nearby beach house will often cast a long shadow across the sand, which is actually helpful on a bright evening. That said, the shadow can sometimes create a washed-out look when relying only on natural light, so I bring portable studio lighting to add some controlled pop to the scene. This approach preserves the subtle details in the sky and produces a slightly more colorful, lively image without over-saturating tones. We also had a family member with mobility issues on a recent shoot, so finding shaded seating proved far more comfortable and practical than keeping everyone in direct sun.
