Recently, I met up with two best friends for a session at one of the most iconic spots on Mobile Bay: The Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa in Point Clear.

Part 1: Classic Charm around the Grand Hotel Pond

We started the session exploring the lush, oak-draped grounds near the hotel's central pond. The Grand Hotel is famous for its majestic live oaks, historic architecture, and beautifully landscaped walkways, making it a dream backdrop for timeless senior portraits.

Soft, Even Light: The canopy of grand oaks provided beautiful shade, allowing for clean, polished portraits without harsh shadows.
Variety of Looks: From rustic wooden bridges to green waterside views, the pond area gave both seniors a distinct, elegant look for their individual portraits before we captured a few candid shots of them laughing together.

Part 2: Golden Hour on the Grand Hotel Beach

For the second half of the shoot, we headed over to the Grand Hotel’s private beach along Mobile Bay just as the sun began to dip toward the horizon.

Sunset & Sky: Because we shoot with professional off-camera flash (OCF), we didn't have to choose between bright, washed-out skies or dark, shadowy faces. We were able to balance the rich colors of the Gulf Coast sunset while keeping both girls looking crisp, vibrant, and perfectly lit.
Relaxed Vibe: Swapping out structured poses for bare feet in the sand, the beach portion was all about capturing genuine personality, golden light, and that easygoing summer energy before senior year kicks into high gear.
